About our school

Carenne School is a School for Specific Purpose (SSP) situated on Wiradjuri land in the Bathurst network. Carenne School caters for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, often accompanied by complex behavioural and emotional needs.

In 2025, we serve a diverse student population of 101 students, 10% of whom are from First Nations backgrounds across 17 classes ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12.

We are a split site with the Macquarie Campus providing specialist targeted behaviour support to primary students from local schools.

Alongside our curriculum, students take part in programs that build skills in:

Our classrooms are set up to meet each student’s needs. We make sure students feel safe, respected and ready to learn in a way that suits them. Our staff are caring and are skilled to help students feel confident, connected and proud of who they are.
